On Friday 1st June 2012, David Allam, the High Sheriff of East Sussex, opened Beautiful Battle's Commemorative Garden for Her Majesty the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.  The opening was attended by members of Beautiful Battle, Battle Town Council, the Ambulance Service, the Police Service and the Fire Brigade.  Members of Battle's Town Band played music during the event and finished with the National Anthem.  The opportunity was taken by the service chiefs to present their members with the special Diamond Jubilee Medals struck for the services.  The High Sheriff officially opened the garden by unveiling a plaque created and donated by Towners.
